Frequently Asked Questions
What services do you offer?I am professionally licensed by the New York State Office of Professions to offer psychotherapy services for individuals, couples, and groups. My approach with each person and couple is tailored to their specific needs using one or more evidence-based modalities after a thorough intake assessment and ongoing collaboration. I have been trained in CBT, DBT, ACT, CPT, EFCT, and the Gottman Method and at times incorporate additional modalities during session as clinically appropriate. I will check in with you regularly during treatment to ensure our approach is beneficial, and we will revise our approach if needed.
What sets you apart from other therapists?I combine a thoughtful, human-centered approach with evidence-based strategies that have proven to be effective. While I consider myself to be non-judgmental and compassionate, I will challenge you to be curious about yourself and to continue to move yourself forward toward your goals. Even though there may be benefit to “venting” at times, I will encourage deeper thought and action that will help to facilitate true progress and wellness. I continue to invest in my own growth as a therapist and genuinely want to support you on your path.
Do you accept health insurance?I do not currently accept health insurance. However, I am able to provide you with a monthly superbill if you are eligible for out-of-network insurance benefits. This may enable you to be reimbursed for a portion of session costs by your insurance company. Please contact your health insurance company to determine if these benefits are available to you. If you would like a list of specific questions to ask your insurance company, please request this information via my online Contact Form. Please note that your insurance company would require a mental health diagnosis to be identified and may request access to your health records to support reimbursement. Payment would continue to be due at the time of service. Please also note that insurance reimbursement only applies to individual therapy; health insurance does not reimburse for couple’s therapy, as the couple is considered the client rather than one individual person.
Will I feel better after therapy?
While I have seen many individuals’ health and lives change for the better, I cannot guarantee that your life will improve after participating in therapy. Therapy is a complex process that may bring up difficult emotions and thoughts that make one feel worse in the moment. Improvement is also highly dependent on the work you put into the process. If at any time you or I feel that alternative approaches or services would help you, we will explore options and possible referral to other services.
